FormerSimpsonswriter John Swartzwelder does not speak to media often.

An early but indicative taste of Swartzwelders style comes from George Meyers infamous limited-runlate80sArmy Manmagazine.

(This is howSwartzwelder might respond to a request for comment.)

Club noted in 2016that Swartzwelder uses his Twitter account simply to promote his books.

This is not entirely true.

So you had to start lying.

  • “Double Wonderful”

Largely unknown is a previous, controversy-ridden Twitteraccountpurporting to be Swartzwelders from 2012.

@TheSimpsonsEARTH SHATTERING NEWS@JJSwartzwelderis indeed the great John Swartzwelder we know and love@scullymike!!!

Which is great, if youre into that key in of thing.

(The episode still has less than 30,000 views on Youtube.)

For those of you who haven’t seen it, there’s some very good comedy acting in this.

And the rest of us did our best.

(Okay, wise guy, you venture to make a Western.

On paper, Swartzwelder bears quite a resemblance to his contemporary, Jack Handey.

Handey himself describes the Deep Thoughts character as a borderline psychopath in a2013 interviewwith NPR.

In fact, Handey and Swartzwelder had overlapping stints atSNLin the 85-86 season.

We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason).

Both writers are 70 years old and enjoy living outside the public eye.

Swartzwelders location is somewhere in California, and Jack Handey lives in Santa Fe.

Unlike Swartzwelder, Handeyhasdone interviews likeEsquire, theNew YorkTimes, andVice, and he regularly contributes to theNew Yorker.

(A fun bit of knowledge from the 2013Timesinterview: Handeys license plate is DPTHOTS.)

If Jack Handey is a comedy writing legend, Swartzwelder is a comedy writing Bigfoot.

But he could also be an accomplished serial killer.

Theres no way to know for sure.

Hes alsotweeted jokes about pollutionbeing good for the environment.

What looks like it’s a bit is much closer to reality possibly even true.

His feed is an under-viewed resource for absurdist humor from one of comedys greatest writers.
