Midnight Sun,thenew book in theTwilightseries,was released on August 4, 2020.
It took me, a lifelongTwilightfan, two whole weeks to read it and notjustbecause Im dumb.
Its also … pretty bad.
Here are the most notable moments from our annotated reading:
Pomegranates
The motif ofMidnight Sunis pomegranates.
If you think its deployed gracefully, you thought wrong.
I saw Persephone, pomegranate in hand.

Every word we spoke here each one of them was another pomegranate seed (p. 213).

He distracts himself from how horny he is for her delicious, delicious blood by … thinking about bugs.
This seems like something Robert Pattinson would actually do, so props for that.
It was quite a small painting, no more than fifteen inches square.

The artist was clearly untrained, his style amateurish.
And yet, there was something in the simple, poorly wrought image that managed to convey an emotion.

This book is so, so long, you guys.
The wood was not up to the task.
But the amount that Edwards narration inMidnight Sunfocuses on his Hulk smash!
strength is ridiculous and very funny, and Meyer plays it sostraight.
Here, hes so thirsty for Bellas blood he pulverizes a table.
How long can you go … without breathing?Indefinitely, I suppose; I dont know.
Later, Edward hints that a vampire could easily swim all the way to Japan without surfacing.

At the climax of the book.
I cannot express how boring and packed with fillerMidnight Sunis.
When Bellas not around, its just stuff like this.
Logic Flaws
Rarely, extremely rarely, someone would guess right.
We didnt give them a chance to test their hypothesis.
We simply disappeared, to become no more than a frightening memory.
Why do they move around if no ones suspicious?
It was doubtful Mr.
I swallowed Bellas tear.
Perhaps it would never leave my body.
Wasted Opportunities
