Nobody expected King Bran.

In most ways, frankly, King Bran is a strange choice.

But we dont see much in The Iron Throne that suggests that hed actually be good at the job.

King Bran dispenses no wisdom.

He exhibits no charisma.

Bran did not come here to make friends, but he also didnt throw anyone under the bus.

In spite of Tyrions speech, Brans story is also far from persuasive.

Still, that tale seems mild when put in the context of the rest of the series.

(Theres no more Iron Throne, so why couldnt Winterfell become the new capital?)

Bran may bethe funniest optionthanks to his generally weird, affectless demeanor, but hes not an inspiring choice.

Cersei was blinded by her need to put her children on the throne.

Robert Baratheon was brought down by his vices.

Joffrey was the embodiment of petulance and privilege.

He is not a person.

It is the most consistent element of Brans character in the later seasons: Hes not really Bran anymore.

I can never be Lord of Winterfell, Bran says.

I can never be lord of anything.

Im the Three-Eyed Raven.

He can see everything, he tells Sansa.

Im something else now.

I dont really want anymore, Bran tells him.

(He really should,though.

A succession crisis will bring down New Westeros very quickly!)

It is a happy-ish ending, as happy as a show likeGame of Thronescould possibly be.
