There were almost no surprises.
Rose is gone, skewered on Rogelios Martian tail and dispatched forever.
Which means thatJanes final story really had space to be about the process of ending.
Telenovelas have endings, and theyre always happy ones.
The open question is not What happens to these characters?
Its How can we ever say good-bye to these characters?
They make it into a telenovela, she says.
Whod want to watch that?
He tells Jane that his glam-mother (Rita Moreno is back, hooray!)
says hed be great at voice-over work.
There are no secrets left!
Just an ending and happiness.
The first is the reveal of Pyotr, her secret triplet brother.
(I wish we couldve seen more of him, though!
Clearly, Yael Grobglas wasready.)
The other is that JR comes back!
Petra doesnt have to be married to the Marbella forever (unless she wants to be!).
So many parts of this finale made me feel seen: Luisa yelling Youre welcome!
But I found two things to be particularly moving, especially fitting ends forJane the Virgin.
They were regular people living typical lives.
Theres no telenovela twist; theres only Rafaels sense of gratitude and love.
Theres something so absolutely right about watching them both stand there helpless and wordless, though.
Its how this last episode mademefeel.
