Secret identities typically provide cool reveals, but this one was pretty meh in the grand scheme of things.

They both seemed like less-than-great people, anyway.
Andie is Michaels ex-girlfriend!
Not really the greatest foundation for a friendship.
As surprising of a reveal as it is, Andie doesnt change much on the show.
She doesnt even murder anyone!
Like, if youre going to come onJaneand disrupt things, you better go all-in.
Magda is behind interest in franchising the Marbella!
Even putting an exclamation point on the end of that sentence cant save it from being a bore.
Magda trying to stop her daughter from having a happy ending?
Well, Magdas always gonna Magda.
Petra has a triplet!
River Fields is in love with Rogelio!
Girl Rudy is River Fieldss daughter!
They have a fraught relationship!
I dont really understand where Pond came from, but I also dont really care!
Rogelio made up a fake scholarship to pay for Janes grad-school tuition!
Most reveals on this show are brimming with drama and tragedy, but this one brings only joy.
Still, for us, very fun.
You know, that old motive.
Was anyone ever really invested in this storyline?
And its true: Petra gets off and turns around to hand her mother over to the police.
They have a complicated relationship, those two!
Petra was engaged to Lachlan but left him for Rafael!
A real cool way to start a marriage!
Alba wasnt a virgin when she got married!
And his biological parents were normal!
Oh, and they died before he could meet them!
This twist is frustrating.
So, its important to the overall story.
We spent so much time talking about Rafaels parentage, throwing this twist on top of it was exhausting.

Michaels not fired, hes gone undercover!
This tricky season-one twist even made me rewatch!
What can I say?
But Michael Cordero turns out to be both a great detective and a decent actor.
Not so much.)
But it is all a ruse!
Hes gone undercover and is using Nadine to get to Sin Rostro.
Nadine dies in the process, so it doesnt go all that well.
JRs blackmailer isnt Krishna!
And the real blackmailer comes to kill Petra!
And then JR shoots that person!
I didnt think so.
Its how we find ourselves in the #WhoDidJRShoot situation at the end of season four.
Petra and Krishna are working together to thwart Milos!
Sisters are doing it for themselves, and Petra and Krishna are working together!
Wait, Carl is real!
Its always about hotel shares on this show!
It takes a while for Raf and Luisa to sort it out.
On the plus side, all the lying finally pushes Rafael to get his own apartment.
Man, this Carl sorry, Anton character drives a lot of plot forward!
The guy who brings Jane Michaels letter is her first love, Adam!
Of all the floorboards in all the world, you know?
Theres no replacing the beauty of the Michael-Jane-Rafael love triangle, but Adam put in a nice effort.
And she pushes Alba down the stairs!
I mean, sure.

Petra reluctantly hires JR as her lawyer when shes being investigated for Anezkas death.
It seems like shell really fight for Petra!
JR cant go through with it, but that doesnt mean the blackmailer is through with her.
It doesnt help that JR and Petra fall for each other.
Rafael was the one who turned Michael in for letting Nadine go!
And he lied about it to Jane for six months!

), is why Jane ends things with Michael just as they were about to get back together.
Jane discovering that Rafael was lying for six months is what ends her and Rafaels reconciliation for good.
It has a lot of emotional ramifications.
Janes favorite telenovela star is also her dad!
Its straight out of a telenovela literally!

Nadine is working for Sin Rostro!

Aaron Zazo is really Roman Zazo, who is very much alive!
BothJane the Virginand I are very into twin shenanigans.
In a fun little cap to this story, Roman kidnaps Petra, and she ends up impalinghimto escape.
Thats some circle-of-life-key in shit, right there.
Luisa is sleeping with her stepmother!
Just a real, classic telenovela moment here.
Its honestly surprising how integral Luisa and Roses relationship is to this story.
Even evil crime lords fall in love!
JR returns from Texas and reunites with Petra!
One of the most heart-warming twists to ever twist!
Who can resist a last-minute surprise declaration of love!
Weve been watching the telenovela adaptation of Jane Villanuevas novel this entire time!
We would want to watch that!
Now that $500,000 book advance all makes sense.
Sin Rostro kidnaps Mateo from the hospital!
Oh, you guys, this was an excellent season-ending twist.
Up until that point, Jane had never been directly involved in the Sin Rostro stuff.
Everything changes after this arc for all of the main players.
Mutter is Rafaels mom and other assorted Mutter items!
Emilio Solano certainly has a punch in.
Very cool mother-son bonding activity!
And another mini-twist within this: Mutter is actually Sin Rostros stepmother.
So thats fun and also very incestuous.
Luisa is working with the police to stop Rose!
And shes the one who kills her!!
Its also hard to believe the show would end without fully redeeming Luisa.
A fitting end all around, honestly.
Michaels memories come back!
Just because it was inevitable does not make it any less heart-wrenching.
(Well get into the actual twist of his return later.)
He remembers his life with Jane and, yes, his heart stillglowsfor her.
The moment itself is beautiful and devastating all at once.
Anezka fakes her own death!
But then Petra kills Anezka!
Immediately, we are meant to think, Oh!
Someone murdered her and this suicide was staged!
She didnt kill herself means she didnt kill herself!
You guys, were wrong on both accounts.
Anezka didnt kill herself!
Anyway, the whole thing leads to a lot of trouble for Petra and I have a headache.
Petra has a secret twin sister!
And shes up to no good!
Aw, the little plot twist that brought Anezka into our lives.
Plus, this scared little kitty brings a whole lot of drama with her.
Thats true dedication to the telenovela life.
Get yours, Anezka.
(But also, dont, because we love Petra)

Petra steals Rafaels last sperm sample and inseminates herself!
It is the stuff of telenovela dreams!
Xo has breast cancer!
It worked so well because there wasnt a smattering of clues building up to it.
Like reality, this came out of nowhere and packed an emotional wallop.
Jane gets artificially inseminated!
And the sperm belongs to this guy she kissed and had a crush on five years ago!
And now that guy is her boss, hotelier Rafael Solano!
Its making sure you know that youre watching a telenovela.
Susanna is Sin Rostro in disguise!
And she shoots Michael!
Youre basically like: Theres no way Michael could be double-crossed bytwopartners hes generally a good detective.
He recovers from the gunshot wound, but there are consequences.
Rose is Sin Rostro!
Twelve episodes in toJane the Virginis when we get our first really huge plot twist.
But we read the signs wrong: Sin Rostro turned out to be Emilios wife, Rose.
There would be clues.
Its a game and you better pay attention.
I mean, we were looking for Sin Rostro and the womans name was Rose!
It was there all along.
A true emotional gut-punch of a plot twist.
Everyone was so happy!
Which maybe should have been a huge clue that a horror show was coming.
The twist at the end of season four feelskind of perfect.
Its also because this baby was executed flawlessly.
Even this #TeamMichael girl had completely accepted Jane and Rafael as a true and viable love story.
Its truly ingenious timing to drop this grenade.
I gasped:They couldnt bring Michael back, could they?
!The show lays down just enough clues so as to not ruin the surprise.
And what a hell of a surprise it was.
But that doesnt diminish the fact thatJane the Virginpulled off one of the greatest twists on television.
