I was nervous about watchingThe Good Fights fourth season.
Firing up the screeners of the first four episodes provided to critics, thats what I was worried about.
I knew that wasnt going to happen here.
WasThe Good Fightstill going to work with such a massive chasm between it and the world?
In thefirst episodeof season four, Diane wakes up in an alternate reality.
Its still 2020, but in this new world, Trump lost in 2016.
But as it happens, the thing I was wrong about was myself.
I worriedThe Good Fightwould seem like a fantasy world, and it sort of does and Ilovedit.
One reasonThe Good Fightworks so well this season is also one I hadnt expected.
The case-of-the-week structure has been vestigial at most, and its often discarded entirely.
Its not empty or banal, its just perfectly, thrillingly picayune.
But Im so glad CBS is still releasing what finished episodes it has.
