But heres the thing: I surprisingly enjoyed the heck out of this Shepherd family reunion.
Like, even worse than she is.
Sorry to speak ill of the dead, but you know Im right.
But this is not about Derek.
Not even his mother?
This is about Amelia.
Who should appear in that hospital but Amelias sister Nancy, the O.B.
She lays on the passive-aggressiveness like a true professional.
So, no, Amelia has not told her family about her divorce.
She hasnt seen them in years!
Cool, cool, cool.
Link is one of those kind and patient hunks, so he agrees.
And you thought Seattle had all the drama.
On the way over, Amelia grills Link on Owen facts they have to get their story straight.
But Amelia insists, and this is Amelias day, so she wins.
Kathleen is the worst of the bunch, so this should be fun!
The amazing, brilliant, kickass neurosurgeon that he knows.
And so they stay.
Their cover is blown!
That fun little game opens the door for Amelias family to lay into her.
Like, uncomfortably hard.
Every minor mistake and horrible decision Amelias ever made comes spilling out on that dinner table.
because it is so insane but also so perfectlyGreys Anatomy, but other than that this scene is rough.
Alas, Amelia is too pissed off to realize that Link is the perfect human.
Shes mad at him for not letting them leave earlier.
Shes mad because he was just supposed to be a fun side piece and now he Knows Too Much.
Of course he is!
Jonah trusts Amelia because, sure why not, and doesnt hesitate to okay the risky surgery.
He is going to be brave, he says.
Link, however, is not on board.
Shes all like Im not the screw-up 14-year-old they think I am!
And Links like I know that, but I dont think you know that!
and you guys the whole thing is just very hot.
Amelia stands her ground.
Shes doing this surgery because Jonah deserves a real life and she knows she can give that to him.
Its probably a little bit about proving her family wrong, but well just ignore that for now.
Amelia does her thing and Jonah comes out of the surgery a new person.
Although thats all well and good, Link is still bent out of shape about how she treated him.
She tries to apologize, but hes not in the mood.
Before she can fix that problem, her mother arrives at the hospital for a chat.
So when Derek offered to look after his sister, Mama Shepherd let him.
But that was wrong and it is her biggest regret.
Amelia doesnt blame her mother.
I stand by my earlier theory that shes only completely The Worst when shes around Owen.
Maybe as long as Amelia stays away from Owen, well all be okay.
