So heres a ranking of every episode in the series to help separate the wheat from the chaff.
More importantly, who cares?
The Gang Solves the North Korea Situation (Season 3, Episode 6)
Rough episode, man.
RetrofittingAlways Sunnys thing to Revolutionary Warera America works about as well as it sounds.
This mediocre glimpse at a fictional past deserves to be forgotten completely.
Notable for a pre-fame guest appearance by Alexandra Daddario, and not much else.
Also, lets not forget his statutory-rape charge revealed in The Gang Runs for Office!
Dennis Reynolds: bad guy.
(Dont worry,Howerton will reportedly recur as Dennisin the upcoming 13th season.)
Proof that even 12 seasons in,Always Sunnycant force zaniness.
The Gang Spies Like U.S. (Season 10, Episode 5)
Ugh.
An entire B-plot centering around the double entendre of the phrase cream pie?
Thinly veiled Asian stereotypes?
A nonsensical main plot that barely sputters to a close?
Pretty hard to watch.
The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 6 (Season 9, Episode 9)
Oy, aLethal Weaponepisode.
Macs Banging the Waitress (Season 4, Episode 4)
The only episode that doesnt feature Dee!
The episodes faults speak to just how strong the show is when the full ensemble cast is present.
This conceit what happens when the bars actually successful?
More proof that the show fires on all cylinders when achieving a perfect balance between plotting.
Otherwise, the fake-miracle exploit that the gang centers around is weak tea amongAlways Sunnys stronger amoralistic brews.
- Who Got Dee Pregnant?
Her plotline is mostly window dressing to introduce new conceits (hello, newly ripped Mac!)
Otherwise, a bummer of an installment about mental-health panic that doesnt do much with its main conceit.
(Very unsurprising, considering his conduct throughout the entirety of the show.)
Funny idea, not so funny of an episode.
Charlie and Dees B-plot centered around accidental cannibalism (or is it?!)
Weiss, whom you might recognize as the showrunners ofGame of Thrones.
So why does this episode fall flat?
Making a mess all over the city, indeed.
that is nonetheless not as strong as its reputation suggests.
More notable for the dick towel conceit that sets up the brilliant The Gang Buys a Boat.
Otherwise, a sorta-stale revival of a stale concept.
Furthermore, even though Mac and Dees attempts to raise the titular dumpster baby (D.B.
(As evidenced later in the season, its much funnier when said outliers out-ick the gang.)
How Mac Got Fat (Season 7, Episode 10)
HowdidMac get fat?
As ever, the explanation isnt as funny as how we get to the explanation.
), but, ultimately, the audience isnt left too charmed.
(No word on if he survived that notoriously fiery episode, though.)
Thats the anchor behind this episode, which takes place temporally during the same period as the superior PTSDee.
Hero or Hate Crime?
(Season 12, Episode 6)
Hero or Hate Crime?
hinges around the owner of a winning lottery ticket, a falling piano, and a few offensive slurs.
(In said and unaired pilot, the basketball was actually a cup of sugar.)
In fairness, its an early episode; theres still plenty of her trust to be abused.
(The answer: nothing good.)
A solid early episode, bolstered by Macs realization that nobody really ever likes him all that much.
Guess whos the one who eats said rotted animals?
(It aint Dee.)
The Gang Runs for Office (Season 2, Episode 8)
Sodo!
Charlies illiterate campaign-commercial script for Denniss failed comptroller run in this episode is the stuff ofAlways Sunnylegend.
near the episodes end, drunkenly refereeing the Frank-fixed basketball game with pure comedic abandon.
Dennis and Dee eventually succeed where the other three fail, but not in the way theyd like to.
All I can say: Its diaper time.
Times Up for the Gang (Season 13, Episode 4)
This couldve been a disaster.
(Well, we all had an inkling or two, but whos to say really?)
Charlie Kelly: King of the Rats (Season 6, Episode 10)
Its Charlies birthday!
while he stays at a rehab facility (or does he?)
to accurately re-create his falsified erotic memoirs.
Mac Finds His Pride (Season 13, Episode 10)
Is this episodes placement controversially low?
Will it eventually find a home in the annals ofSunnyclassics before it?
Hey, if you like margaritas …
39.
Just double-check you wear your sneakers while playing.
The Gang Gets Invincible (Season 3, Episode 2)
Green Man!
(If that sounds complicated, trust me youll get it when you see it.)
After all, he hangs dong in it!
Would we want them any other way?
What was he doing to himself with the onions at Wendys?
- Who Pooped the Bed?
(Season 4, Episode 7)
Whodidpoop the bed?
Who knew they made activated latches on bear traps?
Not Charlie, thats for sure.
Dees failed attempt to become a recurring character in said nonexistent sitcom (meta enough for you?)
The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention (Season 5, Episode 4)
Intervention!
How could you not love an episode that introduces Gail the Snail, a.k.a.
the garbage pail cousin (played with delicious disgustingness by Mary-Lynn Rajskub)?
He didnt report me to the principal.
Thanks, man I owe you one.)
Mac and Dennis Break Up (Season 5, Episode 9)
How annoying is Mac?
How codependent are Charlie and Frank?
How pathetic is Dee?
Sweet Dee Gets Audited (Season 7, Episode 4)
This is dark.
Darkest thing weve ever done.
is nearly overshadowed by Dees unending quest to scam the United States government.
(The Scammr license plate didnt help.)
Also notable: A few shocking and hilarious moments here that reveal Denniss dark depths.
after watching this one).
Frank, meanwhile, is stuck in a coil.
What does that mean, exactly?
Nothing good, thats for sure.
Macs Big Break (Season 6, Episode 4)
Is this episodes B-plot funnier than its main plotline?
), as well as more morning-radio sound effects than anyone should be allowed to have access to.
Who doesnt love a good pair of jean shorts, too?
Meanwhile, Denniss obsession with finding out what realityreallyis yields a brilliantly strange outcome.
Moms Stink or the Yankee Doodle Dandy remix?
Charlies final song in particular is oddly touching, even as it represents his worst tendencies.
An endlessly rewatchable slice of heaven thats earned all the fan adulation its accrued since.
Plus, theres a scene where Dennis throws up and puke is always funny.
System, which zeroes in on Denniss questionably effective method for manipulating people sexually and emotionally.
and throws a beer in his face.
It triggers a deep laugh every time.
The Gang Misses the Boat (Season 10, Episode 6)
What have we become?
Dennis asks in the beginning of this classic episode.
Rum ham, indeed.
that take strong hold in the shows canon in seasons to come.
