Much of the original plot is there.
Staring deep into each others eyes, they see vulnerability and permission.
Carol tries to explain: Bob, its where wereat.Its how wefeel.
The world has not been clamoring for a musicalization of Mazurskys film, which has certainly fought the process.
And third, the film alreadyhadmemorable music.
Erasing good stuff and replacing it with Sheiks shag-carpet-soft rock isnt a good trade.
At the end of the film, after an anticlimactic (hello!)
Certainly, despite Scott Elliotts typically careful direction, there is a sizzle of instability in the air.
Would that have been darker and truer?
Her slightly awkward, not-an-actor coolness, though, puts the effortful central foursome in stark relief.
The rest spend the show clearly ill at ease.
Perhaps their discomfort stems from the way that Elliotts in-the-round environment gives them nowhere to hide.
But the show just keeps turning them off.
