Its bananas, but this band has really been therapy for me.

Theyve helped prop me up in a way that I feel like Im finally getting to experience.

Being sober is insane.

You seriously experience your feelings in such a real and raw way.

This feels like the first time in a lot of ways.

This was the first album where you started with some tracks from Bobb and then worked on those.

It adds a heaviness to the record that I dont know that Im necessarily capable of writing.

Do you think thatll change how you write in the future?I dont know, really.

I think what it ultimately made me see is that I work well when I collaborate with people.

When I take the pressure off of myself, and I say, Here, can you help me?

Im finally at a place where I feel comfortable asking people for help.

Im like,Dude, what was I doing before?

But the music doesnt sound the way that it sounds without Bobb.

A lot of bands dont have that dynamic.

So you made a music video with the cast ofVanderpump Rules.

I have to know, what do you think about this season?[Laughs.]

I mean, its good.

Im not super into the new people yet, I dont really care.

But it still serves its purpose for me as the best show to put on and just zone out.

I also love how Ariana talks so openly and freely about having depression.

Best Coast are alsoone of many bandswhove performed in support of Bernie Sanders.

What do you think about him appeals especially to musicians?Hes truly a man of the people.

When you think of politicians, you dont think of people that really connect with the working class.

I was very detached from it in a lot of ways, but it just kept happening.

I feel lucky that I even get to still do this.
